The Sylhet spice cuisine My parents recomended this restaurant, Located in Kings Heath it is situated on a busy road (York Rd). Parking for us was easy but as it get's busy I can imagine it's difficult to get a space close by.

On arrival we were asked if we had booked a table. We had not, it was only 6.30 on a Thursday evening and only two other tables were being used so seemed strange to ask us. He showed us to a table straight away.

We ordered some drinks, a bottle of mateus, rose wine, £10-£11, it always annoys me when you can buy the same bottle of wine in the off license for £4.00!!!.. over priced, drinks and ripping off customers is a sure way to stop me from returning.

The manu is big, lots of choice and it took us a while to decide what we were having. We took advantage of a few popadoms whilst we waited. We were charged £1.25 for mint dip & chutney etc. + popadoms.

We did eventually order. We skipped starters and went straight for the mains. we had, hot curry, chicken biryani, Chicken Bhuna, and a chef's speciality balti chicken tikka masala (bctm).

Whilst we waited for our food the next door neighbours decided to embark on a stomping match, for 10 minutes we had banging and knocking until we asked one of the waiters if he could stop it. He went off and within a few moments it stopped.

The Sylhet spice cuisine Our food took ages to arrive and I'm sure I seen several people that had ordered after us be served first. When the food come it was hot but the nan breads were cold. My bctm was the last to arrive a few minutes after everyone elses. My nan bread (chilli nan) was so cold by then I did not enjoy it at all. My bctm was rich, very rich. although the food was nice, right amount of meat it gave me indegestion later that evening.

The Biryani was hotter than usual but good. The waiter had the sauce from this dish put in a doggy bag. The waiter gave us some good advise on how to store it and cook it.

The Bhuna was reported as being one of the best bhuna's with lots of spices and meat. There was no complaints from the chicken curry either.

Our total bill was £56. Not the cheapest but not to bad for:

Popadoms & dips, 4 main courses, 1 x chips, 2 x rice, 2 x nan, 2 x lager, 1 x coke, 1 bottle of wine.

We would probably have rated this restaurant higher if the nan was hot and the popadoms free and wine a bit cheaper.

Overall we gave the The Sylhet spice cuisine 3 stars
