Following on from the terrible meal we had at the Sanams sweet house we found ourselves visiting Manchester again.
This time we did some research and was given some tips about the restaurants to stay away from and the ones that were worth visiting. If only we had did this last time.
Several people had recommended the Shere Khan.
Parking along Wilmslow Road is still a joke. Far to many vehicles for the roads.
The Shere Khan is pretty big, it looks like its on one level. The tables are packed in so I guess it can seat plenty.
There's not much room between the tables so if your a nosey person and you like to listen to other peoples conversations on the table next to you then you will like it. Me, I prefer a little more space.
On the tables you will find a selection of mint dip, onions, Coleslaw & mango chutney. I didn't like this as you get charged 30p for having them on your table whether you eat them or not, on top of this your charged for the popadums also. 90p is not a great deal but it would be nice to have the choice. I chose not to eat any of the sauces as they don't get changed until they have run out, I thought this was very unhygienic.
We ordered a Balti chicken tikka & a Balti chicken. A keema & normal nan bread with boiled rice.
The food took about 10 minutes and when it came out it was hot, I mean VERY hot. I burnt my finger on the balti pot handle that I accidently touched. The balti was that hot, it sat simmering & bubbling in the pot for 5 minutes before I could even touch it.
The medium strength balti was nice. Plenty of spices, flavour and just enough in the pot to fill us up. The nan breads were nice but a bit thin and dry.
The Tikka balti had been asked for slightly hot and was definately that. The full flavour balti is probably up there with the top few balti I have tasted.
We have rated the restaurant a 3star plus.
