I've heard several different reviews about this restaurant, the time had come to finally visit and put it to the test. It is advisable to book a table beforehand.
Parking on the streets of Birmingham is a pain, Hurst st and Thorpe St is all Pay and Display or double yellows,
don't be tempted to leave your car on double yellows and risk it because you have a 95% chance of getting a £60 ticket.
There is a Car park on the right of Thorpe St just 30 yards from the restaurant.
Entering the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly host who showed us to our seats.
First impressions were good but the upstairs was quite small, easily seating 20 people but not much room to move between
tables.
We arrived about 8.30pm, Six diners including two children. We ordered poppadoms and drinks while we looked at the menu.
This is an authentic Indian restaurant so there was none of the popular Balti dishes on the menu. We ordered Starters
Lamb Tikka, Chicken Tikka and a Tandoori Mix. Salad served with all the starters was served
from one big plate by our waiter. The Chicken pieces were tender and cooked perfectly. The Lamb was excellent, three lamb
steak's that would make some steak houses look poor. My mixed Tandoori dish came with chicken and lamb.
Main courses ordered was 2 x chicken curry, 2 x chicken tikka, a Rogan josh and one King Prawn curry
We ordered the ever favourite Keema nan's & plain nan's accompanied by Plain rice x 3 & Pilau rice x 2.
The chicken tikka main courses looked the tastiest, big chunky tender chicken served with fresh salad, a selection of sauces
to go with the chicken. The Chicken curry & rogan josh were both cooked with plenty of flavour along with plenty of meat.
The disappointment was my King Prawn curry lacked king prawns and 5 compared to the ammount of chicken being served up on the
other dish's seemed pretty bad. Apart from that the curry was very good, a light prawn flavour throughout the sauce.
We expected the restaurant to be slightly more expensive than usual and the food was certainly that of a high standard.
The total bill including drinks and two deserts was £126. I thought this to be very high for the food and service.
We thought that the price of our meal was the only thing that let this restaurant down. The food was good and well
worth trying but overall did not justify the bill. A restaurant we will not be eating in again, the food was easily
matched by a number of other restaurants we have visited.
