Luxor first caught our eye when we noticed a name change. This restaurant used to be called Indiana's. Many other
people are finding out about the restaurant by a marketing company currently doing door to door promotions offering
a discount on your meal. The only thing they require is a deposit up front. This sounded suspicious so we asked if it
was genuine, it was confirmed that a London company are currently running a promotion.
Most of the local shops are closed by the time Luxor opens so parking outside the restaurant is pretty good.
When you enter the restaurant there is a separate counter for take away orders, this keeps the restaurant more
private which is a good thing. Eating your dinner with people waiting around for take aways can sometimes be off putting.
There is a off license and a spar opposite the restaurant on the other side of the road.
First impressions were good, the restaurant had already had a number of people eating but, although it was reasonable
big it had a small cramped feel. The tables were close together making as much use of the floor space as possible.
Time wasn't on our side, as we had to be elsewhere pretty soon. We decided to skip starters and jump straight in at the
deep end with our main courses. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Dupiaza Balti and a
Tandoori Mixed Grill. The price for the mixed grill included a nan bread of your choice.
We also ordered one more chicken nan bread and a side order of chips. My wife said her Dupiaza (balti cooked with onions
& peppers) was one of the best balti's she had eaten for a long time. My mixed grill was served still sizzling on the
plate; a mixture of meats all marinated in Tandoori served with fresh salad included a chicken breast and several
smaller chicken wings.
The food was excellent but the price was not, for this reason we gave the Luxor a 3 star rating.
Although the food was very good we thought it was fairly expensive. We only 2 main courses, (1 balti & 1 mixed grill),
1 nan bread & 1 plate of chips. The total meal cost. £22.00
