REVIEW

Himalaya - Longbridge. Visited Sat 8th April, 7.30 pm. - Wont bother again!

Its been many years since I have been here and when I rang to book the table for myself, partner and 2 children (14 & 12 years old), I found the manner rather abrupt. I asked them if they were licensed, as they were not on my last visit and was told, again abruptly, "been licenesed for 3 years mate. Your information is out of date". Well that told me eh? Normally if we all go out for a curry, which is pretty often, we like to order 2 or 3 main dishes and rice and a selection of starters. We dont order a main dish each, as there is normally too much for us and the kids. We did the same this time, ordering enough rice and curry for two adults and two children. I waiter took our order and didnt make any comments. He came back a few moments later to tell us that in future, we HAD to order a main dish each and we were not to do that again. In all my life I have never heard such rubbish and spoken to in such a manner! He remarked that the management in the kitchen had moaned at him about it and he was just telling us for future reference. Well, there will be no future reference as I wont be going there again, there is no way I am visiting a restaurant and being told exactly how much food I am to order. I have never ever been told that in any restaurant, Indian or any other. The staff were not exactly friendly, just moped about. Food was mediocre. Thats the last time I visit Himalaya in Longbridge. Much friendlier staff and service in many places elsewhere to be honest!

TheBaltiGuide.com Comments:
We used to eat at the Himalaya on a regular basis but have not been here for a while. This used to be a regualar place for us to eat but the restaurant started to go down hill rapidly after the management decided to sell/ (I think about 6-7 years ago).

There used to be a very pleasent waitress and waiter that was always polite. ( I think they were part owners). Once it was sold I'm sure the head chef moved on, and in general the restaurant became somewhere we did not want to go to eat.

We decided to try the himalaya again about 3 years ago and it was pretty poor, we've not been back since.

It's a shame as the Himalaya used to be one of the best restaurants around Rubery / Longbridge area. Now it appears to be one of the worst.
