I've seen the Hall Green Tandoori restaurant a number of times and wanted to try it out. I know you should never
judge a book by its cover but from the outside it looks like it deserves a try.
It was a busy Wednesday evening when we ate here. It wasn't very busy but there was several tables taken.
We were seated near a party of four, two couples who had been out drinking most of the day and were very loud and annoying.
We were about to ask if we could be moved when there food came out and they started to hush up a little.
Our waiter had trouble understanding us, his English wasn't very good at all, we tried to order a pint of lager and a coke
and he ended up having to get someone else because he didn't understand what we wanted.
We both ordered Nargis Kebabs for starters, Chicken Dupiaza
and Chicken balti with naan breads, and chips.
More and more restaurants are charging now for popadums, this restaurant was no exception. I think the traditional popadum
with mint dip and onions is always liked by everyone, even more so when there free. On each table is your own electronic
chaffing dish. The starters were soon out and we both tucked in, having both had the same we compared our thoughts,
although there were good, the kebab was a little overcooked and dry. The fresh salad, lemon or mint dip didn't manage to change that.
I thought the chips were a little thin but the main course's were standard. Naan breads were fine, and not overcooked. By
the time we our main course's arrived the annoying group had fallen completely silent as the main aggresser had left on his own.
Overall the food was good, I'm going to rate this restaurant 3 star and would definately eat here again or recommend
this to friends. Just a little fine tuning, free popadom and a little more time for the waiters English and this
could easily be given a 4 star rating. We ate 2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 naan and 2 chips, complete with 2 pints
of lager and 2 large cokes came to a reasonable £28
