This is the Balti Guide's second review, since the launch of the web site last month
things have been pretty slow. We have received a number of recommendations but we still need
more restaurants. If you have recently been impressed by a visit to any Indian restaurant please
let us know here.
For our second review we decided to try a new restaurant we seen whilst driving through the
small village of Alvechurch.
Situated adjacent to the square the New Dilshad has 2 entrances, one for the restaurant and the
other is the take away entrance (along the side).
First impressions last when you walk into this restaurant.
We could tell as soon as we walked in that this was a quality restaurant so we were prepared
to pay a little more than most restaurants.
The staff was all very smart, clean and efficient.
We chose to eat early about 6pm so the air-conditioned restaurant was pretty quiet with
only a handful of customers, this however was a good thing. Situated at the far end of
the restaurant is the waiting area and bar area.
The food itself was very good; although it was slightly above average in price.
We had a mixture of starters, chicken tikka, mixed kebab and onion bhaji.
The starters were excellent so we waited eagerly for the main courses to arrive. We had
ordered chicken tikka main course, king prawn bhuna and tandoori chicken curry
The staff some how managed to get one of the orders mixed up so instead of tandoori chicken curry I ended up with
chicken tikka curry. Although this wasn't what I ordered I was satisfied with the food in general.
We have given the New Dilshad a 3 star rating.
Although the food was very good we thought it was fairly expensive. We had 3 starters,
3 main courses, 2 fried rice, 2 nan bread, and drinks, the meal cost. £46.00
