This restaurant in Selly Oak is situated opposite the Aldi supermarket car park. A licensed restaurant with
reasonably priced drinks selling the famous Cobra curry beer or a selection of fine wines.
Our visit to the Dilshad was enjoyed by everyone, a very relaxed atmosphere with quiet background music to suite.
The restaurant is pretty busy and at the time of our visit had approximately 20 customers,
before a party of 12 arrived. After we had experienced the food and service we understood why the restaurant was so
popular and busy considering it was still early evening (18:30).
The restaurant is open till 2am and the
bar is open till midnight due to the license so don't expect any alcohol after 12.
On entering the restaurant larger parties are catered for near the entrance, a quieter area to the right is partitioned off,
ideal for smaller groups and couples.
We were greeted with popadoms when we ordered our drinks and awaited for our starters, only 2 of us had starters
and the tandoori mixed kebab and lamb samosa served
on a sizzling plate left the mouths watering of the others. Once we had finished our starters we was asked if we
were ready for our main course before they were served.
The main courses arrived looking as bit as good as the starters. Chicken Shashlick,
Chicken Tikka Passanda, Chicken Balti and a Tropical Balti with a Garlic & Cheese Nan, Garlic Nan,
Peshwari Nan and a Nan bread; chips and rice. The Chicken Shashlick
and the Chicken Balti were both served with healthy portions of chicken, enough to fill
any big eaters. The Chicken Tikka Passanda is a mild dish consisting
of a thick creamy mild sauce served with Pilau rice and the Tropical Balti
contained Chicken, Prawns and Lamb was probably the best Balti's I've had. Even the Nan breads were filled with
plenty of Garlic, coconut, and syrup. There was easily enough food for everyone and we all felt satisfied after the
meal.
Our meal included Starters (2), Main courses, 4 Nan, rice, chips and drinks cost just over £50.00. Slightly more expensive
than a normal concentrated Balti restaurant but worth the money.
This restaurant has been awarded 5 Stars - Congratulations to the first restaurant reviewed by The Balti guide.com to receive
