Bilash, indian cuisine, fully licensed restaurant

A quick glance from the outside and you would be forgiven for thinking that the Bilash restaurant was a small pub.
Up a couple of steps and through a small door, the bilash reminded me of the scene from Charlie and the chocolate factory
when the corridor becomes small.
If your taller than 6ft then you need to watch your head everywhere you turn.
We turned up on a Thursday evening about 8.30, we were asked to take a seat in the bar/waiting area and was given the
menu to read whilst the friendly waiter took our drinks order. There is an upstairs as well as a small
downstairs. I counted enough room (downstairs) to seat 22 people, it felt a little cramped.
We had our order taken and was shown to our seats. Not wanting to fall into the "50p per popadum" trap we declined the
invite of popadums and went for starters instead, a Mix starter & Bilash Special kebab (Minced lamb, spicy spring roll).
For main courses we decided on the Tandoori Kazana (Mixed grill) and a chicken tikka masala. The CTM was
quite sweet, not to much almond and quite a lot of sauce. Although the mixed grill was sufficient with a good selection
of meat I was disappointed that CTM only had a few small pieces of chicken. I ended up being given some of the
chicken from the mixed grill as there was too much.
Although they forgot about our side order of chips we were both happy with overall taste and quality of the food and service.
Sadly though the chicken tikka masala did not make it into my personal favourites.
Our total bill was £32.50, This included 4 drinks (2 beer), 2 starters, 2 mains, Rice & chips.
Overall we gave the The Bilash cuisine 3 stars and would happily eat here again.
