Welcome to Decembers review, it comes a little later than expected because of the holiday period but, well worth the wait.
We first planned visit a restaurant for Christmas dinner but found it difficult to find one open on Christmas Day for dinner.
In the end we settled for the Balti Bazaar in Stirchley on Boxing Day. This restaurant used to be a favourite of ours so we
expected the usual high standards.
The Balti Bazaar has a large car park next to and behind the restaurant for its customers, Parking on the road outside can be
difficult and is often very busy. You can purchase soft drinks from the restaurant or take your own. Their is also an off
license opposite the restaurant so you don't have far to go if you want to grab a 4 pack before hand.
We expected the restaurant to be busy and was surprised when we were the only people in their at 6pm.
We ordered Onion Bhaji & Bazaar Special for starters. The bazaar special was similar to a
mixed grill and contained the same Chicken Tikka, Sheek Kebab & fresh Salad. The spicey sheek keebab and tender pieces of chicken
were just enough. The Onion Bhaji just fitted on the plate, the large round puffy onion bhaji looked delicious. It was
served with fresh salad and tasted every bit as good as it looked.
For the main course we ordered Balti Chicken Tikka Bhuna & Balti Meat Shim
(spiced green beans), along with side orders of nan bread,
Chips & boiled rice. They were all
served at the same time and piping hot. The menu had the meat shim as being a very tasty dish, hence the reason I tried it.
The bhuna & the meat shim seemed very plain and didn't live up to the excellent starters we had eaten before. The Chips were
very greasy so were left alone but the nan and rice were good.
We had expected more from the Balti Bazaar and was pretty disappointed on this visit. We would recommend the Balti Bazaar,
even if it was only for the starters.
The price for 2 people including Starters, Main courses, Naan, Rice and Chips totalled £22.00 (approx)
