Welcome to the August's restaurant review, again we find ourselves reviewing a restaurant in the South Birmingham
area of Stirchley. The Akash is a similar to a local Public House, its the one place you can go and guarantee a
cheap quality meal.
Although the Akash is Licensed there is a an off license and a general store opposite (50 yards away), and you
can take your own drinks. Parking is not a problem directly outside the restaurant on the road.
The Akash has 2 floors that are normally in use. A smallish clean restarant with friendly staff and excellent food.
They can also cater for private parties is required.
Between us I think we've tried just about every popular dish available from the Akash. This time we ordered
a number of mixed dishes. The Chicken Tikka, Onion Bhaji, Fish Tikka & Mixed Grill for starters
were just right and kept us in line for the main course, the only problem was the bones in the fish
but what do you expect from fish, the free popadoms only helped to feed our hunger.
The Chicken Cylon, Mixed Grill, King Prawn Balti and Chick & Muchroom Balti main courses
that followed were more than enough to satisfy our hunger. The Mixed Grill was a healthy selection of Tandoori'ed meats
cooked to pefection. Whilst the King Prawn Balti along with rice and
Garlic Naans was probably one of the best I've had, plenty of prawns and a tasty sauce
to match. The chunky portions of Chicken and Muchrooms in the other two dishes were well worth the money.
This belly busting meal made us all very happy customers. This is one restaurant that I can always recommend to anyone.
Four meals including Starters, Main courses, Naan, Rice and Chips totalled £38.00
Overall a 4Star rating recieving a certificate of quality from the BaltiGuide.com
